he Rose-ringed Parakeet, also known as the Ring-necked Parakeet, is a species belonging to a family widely distributed in Asia, Africa and Europe. It is the only bird in the parrot and parakeet family which inhabits freely in Europe. Its plumage is mostly green. The tail is long and tapered. The beak is large and red, hooked. The male has a black and pink ring on his neck that appears only at the age of two, indicating his sexual maturity. This species requires space, sun and protection from the weather, for its well-being.Birds must stay in nurseries or cages that allow for movement and interaction with toys or perches.
The Ring Neck has a lifetime of approximately 30 years. When in captivity, it can learn a few words and even eat by hand. They tend to be sociable and like to live in groups.
